There are Many Ways You Can Help!
Read the volunteer descriptions below to see the best fit for your time, resources, and skills.
Fostering
We have fosters throughout the greater Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area. We are always looking for loving fosters to home rabbits until adoption. Fosters help with litter training, socializing, and relearning trust with humans. They transport their fosters to adoption events in hopes of finding their new forever home. It’s also a great way to test whether a rabbit is the right pet for your family. When you foster for us, all supplies for that foster bun is supplied free!
Volunteering at HQ
Maryland only
Our headquarters is in Columbia, MD. There are several opportunities to volunteer at HQ. We are always in need of cleaners, feeders, groomers, stockers, maintenance, admin and beyond.
Helping with Adoption Days
Adoption days (Maryland & Virginia)
If you like to be where the action is, come and volunteer at our adoption days. We need volunteers to assist our bonders and potential adopters meet rabbits. We also need volunteers to do cleaning, prepping, tending to rabbits needs and grooming.
Events & Fundraisers
Throughout the year, we have various events and fundraisers. Some are online, some are in person. If you like to organize, lead, or have creative ideas about fundraisers and more, please let us know!
In-home Petsitting
If you live in the greater Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area and have extra room in your residence, we always need bun sitters. It’s a great way to experience rabbits short term in your home to see if a rabbit is the right pet for you.
Grooming & Nail Trimming
If you have the skills or want to learn the skills of rabbit nail trimming and grooming, please apply! We have many opportunities for volunteers to learn and assist with this important service we offer.
Digital Media
We have a variety of opportunities in the digital media realm such as social media posting/updating, helping us create video content for our website and YouTube, capture photos at events, HQ and more.
Bunny Wrangling
A very important opportunity to help capture dumped rabbits outside. When we hear of a dumped rabbit, we have volunteer teams who mobilizes to catch them. It will literally save their lives! This includes driving to a location where rabbit(s) are spotted and trying to capture them with treats, etc. We loan carriers and other supplies to help our volunteers be successful.
Transporting
We are always in need of transporters to help us drive rabbits to locations such as adoption days in VA/MD, to and from vet appointments, and sometimes bringing new buns from shelters.
If this is something you would be great at helping with, also consider helping with the Bunderground Railroad. The Bunderground Railroad is the system of contacts, rabbit rescuers, rescue organizations, and shelters locally and nationally that gets alerted when there are emergency placements and transportation needed for a large number of rabbits all at once.

Bonding
Bonding is a rare and special skill. If you have any experience in rabbit bonding or are looking to seriously learn a new skill, this is the place for you. Bonding rabbits often takes a week or more of close supervision. If you have the time, patience, and a good eye for bunny behavior, please contact us!
Veggies
Bringing and sorting veggies
At HQ, we house many rabbits. We feed them fresh greens and veggies daily. Volunteers go to local grocery stores and get left-over or rejected produce from the produce departments. We also need volunteers to sort them into bins for refrigeration.
Petfinder Writers
If you want to help friends of rabbits from wherever you are and you have some good writing skills, please consider volunteering in this group. We advertise all our adoptable rabbits on Petfinder. Our fosters fill out specialized questionnaires about their rabbits. These questionnaires get filtered to a team of writers, who write up heart-warming, honest, and eye-catching ads. This is a great way to help rabbits find their forever families!
Screening Potential Adopters
We have a team that helps conduct adoption vetting. Help us interview potential adopters to see if they have the requirements needed to give our rabbits a forever home. This includes communicating via email and phone.
